Artworks Loveland is a non-profit arts organization providing affordable studio space and exposure for visual artists while engaging the community through contemporary art exhibitions and programs. Our facility is a place where exceptional visual art is created, where experimentation and collaboration are nurtured, and where contemporary art is encouraged. We are located just forty-five minutes north of Denver at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, positioned on the corner of 3rd and Railroad in historic downtown Loveland.

Artworks Loveland is participating in Month of Printmaking Denver! Mo’Print is a celebration of the art of making original prints to inspire, educate and promote awareness through a variety of public events and exhibitions in the Denver metropolitan area, the Front Range region, and throughout Colorado. About the Exhibition:

In conjunction with Month of Printmaking Denver, Impressions: An Exploration of Contemporary Printmaking, is a juried group exhibition which highlights current trends and innovations in contemporary printmaking.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit up to four works which exemplify new directions in contemporary printmaking, including experimental processes. All printmaking media will be considered, including woodcut, intaglio, lithography, screenprint, and monotype. Applications will be reviewed by juror Johnny Plastini and curator Bre Nielsen.

Important Dates:

  • Thursday, February 15: Application deadline. There is a $25 application fee.

  • Monday, February 19: Artists will be notified of their application status.

  • Friday, March 2: Accepted artwork is due to Artworks Loveland, 310 N. Railroad Ave. Loveland, CO 80537. Work may be shipped or dropped off during office hours (Tuesday-Friday 1-4 PM, Saturday 12-4 PM). Artwork must arrive at Artworks Loveland no later than Friday, March 2.

  • Friday, March 9, 6-9 PM: Opening reception

  • Thursday, March 29, 6 PM: Gallery talk by juror Johnny Plastini

  • Saturday, April 28: Exhibition closes

  • Week of May 1 - 5: Artists may pick up work at Artworks Loveland, Tuesday-Friday 1-4 PM, Saturday 12-4 PM, and by appointment.

Please note:

  • Submitted digital images should be JPEG files, 300 dpi.

  • 2-dimensional works must not exceed five feet in width and must be ready to hang upon arrival at Artworks.

  • If artwork is shipped, it will be returned to the artist by Saturday, May 12. Artist should provide a return shipping label for shipped artwork. Please note that Artworks does not provide storage for large crates.

About the Juror:

Johnny Plastini received his BA in visual art with a painting emphasis from the University of California, Santa Cruz and received his MFA in printmaking from the Tyler School of Art, Temple University. Johnny currently is an assistant professor and area coordinator of printmaking at Colorado State University where he instructs all levels of printmaking ranging from introductory undergraduate courses to graduate level research. In addition to teaching, he has also worked professionally in the museum world at the Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz, California and at the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.Johnny’s transdisciplinary approach to vital materialism and agential realism has been exhibited extensively at museums and galleries both nationally and internationally. He has been featured in numerous art related magazines including CRED, Studio Visit, and New American Paintings. Johnny’s work is held in the permanent public collection of Zayed University, United Arab Emirates as well as in various private collections across the United States.
